Preventive dentistry

About this service
How often should I have scaling and polishing?

Usually every 4–6 months. If you drink a lot of coffee or tea, smoke, or build up plaque quickly, your dentist may recommend a shorter interval.

Does scaling wear down teeth or widen the gaps between them?

No. Scaling uses ultrasonic vibration on plaque and tartar and does not wear down tooth enamel. The feeling of “gaps” comes from the tartar being removed.

What are the signs that I need a cleaning soon?

Gums that bleed when you brush, bad breath, yellow stains from plaque, red swollen gums, or sensitivity that lasts.

Is there anything I should avoid eating or drinking after scaling?

For the first 24 hours, limit very hot or cold food and drinks, dark-coloured food and drinks (coffee, tea) and smoking, so your gums can settle.

How should I care for my teeth at home?

Brush twice a day, floss or use a water flosser every day, rinse with a fluoride mouthwash and replace your toothbrush every 3 months.

General treatment

About this service
How long do fillings last? When do they need replacing?

Modern filling materials typically last 3–7 years, or longer with proper care. Regular check-ups let us keep an eye on the filling.

When is root canal treatment needed?

When there is a large cavity, lasting pain, severe sensitivity, swollen gums or a discoloured tooth. Your dentist will take an X-ray to diagnose it.

Does an extraction hurt? How long does recovery take?

With local anaesthesia and modern techniques, discomfort is kept to a minimum. Recovery usually takes 3–7 days, depending on the person and how closely the aftercare advice is followed.

Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?

A ceramic crown is recommended for back teeth, or for teeth that have lost a lot of structure, to protect the tooth and prevent it cracking later.

How often should I come back for a check-up?

Every 4–6 months for a general check-up, a clean to remove plaque and to catch problems early.

Orthodontics & braces

About this service
How long does orthodontic treatment take?

On average 12–24 months, depending on how misaligned the teeth are and the method (braces or clear aligners). An assessment visit gives you a clear estimated timeline.

Do braces hurt? Will they affect eating?

Usually there is only mild soreness for the first 3–5 days after each adjustment or new set of aligners. Eat soft food for a few days and clean carefully as instructed.

Can my teeth move back after treatment?

You need to wear a retainer as instructed to keep the result stable in the long term. Regular check-ups help control the risk of relapse.

What is a mini-screw (Minivis)? When is it needed?

A mini-screw is a small medical titanium screw placed temporarily in the jawbone as a fixed anchor point, helping move teeth more precisely. It is usually used to move a whole arch back, close spaces after extractions or missing teeth, upright or intrude teeth, or for severely misaligned teeth.

Are clear aligners suitable for every case?

Most misalignment cases can be treated with clear aligners; however, complex cases may need braces or a combination. Your dentist will advise after an examination.

Do I need teeth taken out for braces?

Whether extractions are needed depends on the degree of crowding, the jaw relationship and the aesthetic goal. Asahii prefers the most conservative option.

Cosmetic dentistry

About this service
Does whitening cause sensitivity?

Some people may feel mild sensitivity, which goes away after 24–48 hours. Asahii uses a suitable concentration and a desensitising gel to keep you comfortable.

Do veneers require a lot of tooth reduction?

Veneers aim to preserve tooth structure and usually need only a very thin layer of enamel to be removed. Your dentist will advise depending on your case.

How long do cosmetic results last?

Depending on the technique and care, veneers can last 10–15 years and whitening 6–18 months. Your oral hygiene and diet directly affect how long the colour lasts.

Should I whiten my teeth at home or at the clinic?

In-clinic whitening gives faster results and better control of sensitivity; at-home whitening is convenient and lets you choose your time. Your dentist will recommend the option that suits you.

Do veneers weaken teeth?

Veneers placed for the right reasons and with the right technique do not weaken teeth; they also protect the enamel surface. What matters is preserving as much tooth structure as possible.

Restorations & implants

About this service
Does getting an implant hurt? How long does it take?

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so it is almost painless; you may feel mild discomfort for the first 1–2 days. Placing the implant takes about 20–30 minutes; the implant then needs 3–6 months to integrate with the bone before the ceramic crown is fitted.

Who is suitable for implants?

People with missing teeth who are in stable general health and have enough jawbone volume. Where bone has been lost, a bone graft can make implant placement possible.

How long do implants last?

With proper care, implants can last 15–20 years or more. Careful cleaning and regular check-ups help them last as long as possible.

How should I care for an implant afterwards?

Keep the new implant area clean, brush gently, use floss or a water flosser, avoid smoking and come back for check-ups as scheduled.

When is a bone graft needed before an implant?

When the jawbone has receded a lot or there is not enough bone volume to support the implant. Your dentist will advise after a Cone Beam CT scan.
